Executive MBA
(Master of Business Administration - Gaming Industry)
Programme Outline
The MBA (Gaming Compliance, Regulation and Governance) is a specialist, executive-oriented MBA pathway designed for current and aspiring leaders in regulated gaming, gambling, betting, lottery, casino, online-gaming, compliance, technology and associated advisory environments. It retains the broad management orientation of a Master of Business Administration while contextualising core business disciplines within the complex regulatory and governance realities of the gaming sector.
The programme provides a rigorous grounding in strategic management, operations, people management, financial management, governance, marketing, technology and innovation. These areas are integrated with specialist attention to gaming compliance, AML, risk, responsible gambling, consumer protection, public policy, cybersecurity and ethical leadership.
Students will engage with contemporary challenges faced by gaming organisations as they seek to operate successfully, sustainably and responsibly in highly regulated national and international markets. Through applied assignments, case analysis, research-informed teaching and a capstone project, students will develop the analytical, communication, decision-making and leadership capabilities required to manage gaming organisations and regulatory responsibilities with confidence.
-
This module introduces students to strategic management within the highly regulated gaming sector. Students explore how gaming organisations develop competitive advantage while navigating licensing requirements, regulatory constraints, market competition, public trust, responsible gambling expectations and international expansion. The module encourages students to think like senior decision-makers, applying strategic tools to real-world gaming contexts including online betting, casinos, lotteries, digital platforms and emerging regulated markets.
-
This module examines how regulated gaming organisations operate safely, efficiently and responsibly on a day-to-day basis. Students study internal controls, standard operating procedures, customer onboarding, due diligence, responsible gambling interventions, incident management, regulatory reporting and audit readiness. The module shows how compliance must be embedded into operational systems rather than treated as a separate function, helping students understand how strong processes protect customers, licences and organisational reputation.
-
This module explores the people-management challenges of the gaming industry, where staff behaviour, leadership culture and ethical decision-making are central to regulatory performance. Students examine recruitment, staff licensing, training, compliance culture, responsible gambling awareness, whistleblowing, employee conduct, multicultural teams and staff wellbeing. The module highlights the role of HR in building organisations where employees are equipped and empowered to act responsibly in complex, customer-facing and compliance-sensitive environments.
-
This module connects financial management with anti-money laundering, fraud prevention and enterprise risk in the gaming sector. Students explore gaming revenue models, cash management, customer funds, payment systems, source-of-funds checks, suspicious transaction monitoring, financial governance and regulatory reporting. The module helps students understand that finance in gaming is not only about profitability, but also about licence security, financial integrity, customer protection and board-level risk management.
-
This module examines the legal, ethical and governance frameworks that shape regulated gaming organisations. Students study licensing systems, regulatory supervision, enforcement powers, board accountability, consumer protection, duty of care, responsible gambling obligations, advertising regulation, data governance and international regulatory comparisons. The module prepares students to understand how gaming businesses must be governed lawfully, ethically and transparently in order to maintain public trust and regulatory confidence.
-
This module explores how gaming organisations acquire and retain customers while operating within strict advertising, consumer protection and responsible gambling rules. Students examine digital acquisition, brand strategy, CRM, affiliate marketing, sponsorship, social media, influencer activity, AI-driven personalisation, youth protection and marketing compliance. The module challenges students to design commercially effective campaigns that are also ethical, responsible and aligned with regulatory expectations.
-
This module focuses on gambling harm, safer gambling systems and the wider public-policy responsibilities of the gaming sector. Students explore behavioural psychology, addiction awareness, vulnerable customers, self-exclusion, early intervention, public health models, data-driven player protection, duty of care and social impact. The module positions responsible gambling as a core management responsibility, requiring organisations to build customer protection into strategy, operations, technology, marketing and governance.
-
This module examines the digital systems that underpin modern gaming, including online platforms, payment technologies, data analytics, AI, fraud detection, RegTech, cybersecurity and emerging innovations such as blockchain and immersive gaming. Students learn how technology creates both opportunity and risk, particularly in relation to customer protection, data privacy, AML, operational resilience and regulatory evidence. The module develops technology-literate managers who can govern innovation responsibly in a fast-moving digital gaming environment.
-
The module is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental principles and techniques involved in conducting rigorous academic research. It encompasses a range of essential topics, including research design, data collection methods, data analysis, and interpretation. Students learn to formulate research questions, select appropriate methodologies, gather and analyze data, and draw meaningful conclusions. The module strongly emphasises qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, enabling students to choose the most suitable approach for their research inquiries. Additionally, ethical considerations in research are explored, ensuring that students adhere to responsible research practices. Through practical exercises and projects, participants acquire the essential skills needed for successful academic and professional research endeavours.
-
This module is the culmination of the programme of study that requires you to undertake independent research that links theory to practice. The dissertation is designed for continual feedback throughout the module, with you having access to an individual online supervisor to enable close interaction. Research methods training will be provided to allow you to have a deep understanding of the approaches that can be taken.
